How can you keep your customers happy?
Companies that invest in keeping their customers happy become great successes stories. Something as simple as remembering a customer’s birthday will make them feel that you treasure them and they will keep on coming back. Give discounts where you can, start loyalty programs, or even send gifts doing birthdays or anniversaries and see how well customers respond to you.
Listen to their concerns.
When a customer feels that you aren’t listening to them they will not be happy and will move on to any competitor who gives them some attention. If a customer raises a query or complains about something, quickly respond to the issue, and even if you cannot solve it at that particular time, promise that you’ll do all you can to make sure that the issue is taken care of.
A simple thank-you note can make a customer feel valued because it shows that you obviously care about them.
Deliver what you promise.
It is better to under promise and over deliver. Do not promise the customer that you will move heaven and earth for them and be unable to even open the door for them. Always deliver on your promises because once the trust is broken with your customer, they will never look at you in the same light again. If you know you cannot deliver as per your promise, make sure you talk to them and let them know that you’re doing everything within your power to deliver.
Communicate With the customers.
Due to the use of technology, you no longer have to have face-to-face sessions with the client’s; however, this is a big mistake. Create opportunities to talk to your customers face to face because it’ll give you a chance to interact with them and get to know what you can do better. No one wants to talk to a machine and no matter how friendly your user interface is, most customers still want to see the face behind the machine.
Engage in Corporate social responsibility.
A company that participates in the community within which it operates is viewed very positively by the community. If you show that you care about the community and the environment, you will get good standing and your brand awareness will increase. This is much better than placing an advert in the newspaper or television because word of mouth is very powerful as a marketing tool. You do not have to adapt big expensive causes, there are small projects you can undertake, for example, painting the local bus stops, putting up watering points, sponsoring the city clock, organizing for public cleanups among other things.
A business cannot survive without customers, just like you got them, you can easily lose them. It doesn’t take much to keep customers happy because all it requires is that you deliver on what you promise and listen to their concerns.
